Catching up
Seeing as this account was just set up yesterday, the only people I know who have live journals are those from the trip- so, when I got on and started reading all their entries I figured I had better get with the program and catch up on Russia stories. Mamaiyav Hill was beautiful, I was really glad I was wearing sunglasses there b/c I must admit to getting a little misty when our guide was talking about some of the heroics displayed during crushing battles that wiped out what totalled 1500000 people in the end. Read Lindsey's post about the Piranya.....oh my gosh! I had no idea one of our guys got robbed by a couple cops! That is horrible but kinda funny at the same time....totally proves the whole "absolute power corrupts absolutely" theory. Kennedy, the Kenyan.....lol, boy that boy gets around! Linz, you can have your chocolate lovin'- my pride is just too wounded after the popcorn and icecream comment. So I decided from this trip that I have two large words tattooed across my forehead: sucker and easy. All the little beggars follow me around and what can you do, when they are like 6 you give them money. Vendors hug me and guys who want to do my portrait follow me around. Oh, and yeah, if I had a dollar for each of the times I have been kissed by random strangers on this trip I would be making money faster than I spend it.....if thats possible ;) The whole learning the Russian language thing has been proving challenging, luckily the hotel guards, Victor and Vladislov, have been allowing me to practice Russian on them. They are so sweet, anyone who can be so good about humoring me deserves a BIG hug! Last night, people got drunk, true feeling came out- it was like an episode from real world. Wow.....that's all I can say, can't even really comment b/c I was the dorky one sitting in my room studying for my stats quiz. Hey, at least I walked out of there this morning knowing I aced it. 91% on the last test, if I keep this up I am well on my way to giving my GPA a necessary boost.
